Coronavirus (COVID-19) Communication from the Superintendent
March 7, 2020

Dear Graded Community,

I recognize that I wrote to you last evening, providing an end-of-week update. However, things are fluid with COVID-19 coronavirus, and I want to make sure we stay in close communication and offer you the most factual and current information.

We learned last night that a 7th grade student from Avenues São Paulo has tested positive for COVID-19. The student had recently returned from Colorado, USA. The family had been traveling for the Carnaval break. We do not know how the student contracted the virus.

Avenues has made the decision to close their campus. They informed parents yesterday evening but have not determined for how long. They reported in their message to families that they are consulting the Ministry of Health. Certainly, just as we did for the student from Bandeirantes who contracted the virus, we wish them a speedy and full recovery.

We are hosting a variety of events on campus this weekend, including Destination Imagination, JV Volleyball, and Eaglets Soccer and Basketball games. There are no students from Avenues participating in any of these activities.

Graded’s Crisis Response Team continues to meet regularly and will do so as needed throughout the weekend. If there are any changes to our Level 1 response status, I will notify you via email.

I appreciate your ongoing support.

Richard Boerner
