Coronavirus (COVID-19) Communication from the Superintendent
March 2, 2020

Dear Graded Community,

Good Evening! Today was a positive experience for students at Graded focused on learning. There were many productive conversations regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak around the world. The Lower and Middle Schools held assemblies to educate students and High School students conducted discussions in their classrooms.

The Brazilian Ministry of Health reported today at 4:00 pm that there were no new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus in Brazil.

Graded has developed a COVID-19 coronavirus response matrix plan. Our current response status is Level 1, which means we are operating under normal conditions and all regular services are available to students, parents, and employees. We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust accordingly to the conditions. The matrix has four levels of response, with Level 4 resulting in school closure required by the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

We are planning for all circumstances including distance learning, should we need to close school temporarily. We are hopeful this will not be necessary but please know we are prepared and ready. The Distance Learning Plan is a comprehensive tool to provide learning remotely to all students PK-12. We have learned a great deal from schools in Asia that have been closed for the last two months and adjusted our existing plan accordingly.

Each evening, we are washing all touchable surfaces, including desks and door handles with alcohol and have increased the cleaning of our bathrooms. Please continue to encourage your child to practice good hygiene habits.

If you have specific questions with regard to the COVID-19 coronavirus and our response, please email us at coronavirusresponse@graded.br.

With appreciation of your support,

Richard Boerner
Superintendent
