Coronavirus (COVID-19) Communication from the Superintendent
March 6, 2020

Dear Graded Community,

Good afternoon. We continue to operate school normally and have had a successful week. I appreciate the ongoing communication with families. In addition, I have been so impressed with the attention students have taken toward their healthy hand-washing practices. We have used a lot of soap this week!!

As I am sure you are aware, there has been a slow increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases in both Brazil and South America at large.

Today at 4:00 pm, the Brazilian Ministry of Health reported a total of 13 cases of COVID-19 coronavirus in Brazil and 10 cases in São Paulo. There are no reported cases within the Graded community. Additionally, Brazilian Ministry of Health reported that at this time, there is no community-wide spread.

Graded remains at Level 1 response and will continue normal operations both during the school day and with after school activities. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust as needed.

I want to remind you of the “Coffee with the Superintendent: Planning and Preparing for Distance Learning,” which will be held on Tuesday, March 10 @ 8:30 am in the Auditorium. We will discuss Graded’s preparedness and the measures that the school will take, should we be required to close our campus.

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Anthony Wong, professor of Pediatrics at the University of São Paulo’s School of Medicine and one of the first experts to speak about COVID-19 coronavirus, will be presenting at the “Coffee with the Superintendent.”.

If you have further questions with regard to the COVID-19 coronavirus and our response, please feel free to email us at: coronavirusresponse@graded.br.

Enjoy a restful and relaxing weekend,

Richard Boerner
Superintendent
